DEADBOLT LOCK We recommend installing deadbolt locks on all exterior doors and interior garage doors. Some municipalities have city ordinances requiring deadbolt locks on all rental units. Deadbolt lock specifications vary. Please check local code requirements to find out what is currently required on any rental units you own. Double cylinder deadbolts are generally not allowed on rental units. We recommend that you have a thumbturn on the inside of any deadbolt lock in case of a fire. Doorknob locks are designed to keep your friends from walking in without knocking. They are not designed to offer security. We recommend that you lock your deadbolt all the time.
